Law firm annual retreats can provide cause for a host of adventures and misadventures but the tale of a Bell Gully partner entering the hotel room of a sleeping associate has been confirmed by the firm.
The litigation retreat at Waiheke Island iinvolved an incident that was reported in far-off England in the Roll on Friday website when the associate reportedly asked the partner to leave.
The unnamed partner reportedly said he was innocently there to ask the associate to join the others at the bar.
The associate told the partner to leave. Her exact choice of vocabulary hasn’t been recorded but one can hazard a guess. The partner scuttled off and subsequently apologised. Insiders say that the firm has looked into the incident and apparently has addressed it, although the partner is still at the firm.
A Bell Gully spokeswoman confirmed the incident to NBR. “We can confirm an incident took place. It has been dealt with by the firm internally. We won’t be making any further comment.”
