It’s getting into Christmas party time again and for Queenstown law firm Todd & Walker Law it starts this long weekend, with a trip across the ditch.
The firm has a tradition of holding parties overseas, having previously been to Melbourne and the Gold Coast. Principal Graeme Todd told LawFuel some time ago that his passion for travel – as well as ensuring staff are appropriately rewarded for their efforts – sees the firm take an overseas break for Christmas.
His “open book” policy with staff means that they can see what and how the firm is doing and he provides regular bonuses, apart from the overseas break.
Having technology that permits the firm to serve its local and global clients is another benefit.
The firm’s two principals, Graeme Todd and Michael Walker are completely aware that any top performing law practice requires more than lip service to the “work life balance” mantra.
All of which is part of the benefits of having a law job in a firm that provides appropriate appreciation for the efforts of hard working lawyers and legal staff.
But where to this year?
We know from the firm’s Facebook post that it is once more in Australia – but they’re asking for guesses.
Meanwhile, other firms may take note. Treating staff well is one of the keys to showing a good bottom line.
